Where can you spot moose in Sweden?

Southern Sweden is already a great place to spot moose. Regions such as the region just north of Skåne, the region of Småland and the area around Värmland are particularly suitable for observing these majestic animals in their natural habitat. There is a lot of wildlife in the forests there and the chance of seeing moose is high.

The best time to spot moose in Sweden

Moose are often active during twilight, both early in the morning and late at night. These are the ideal times to look for moose. In the summer months, when the days are longer, you can even see them in the middle of the night.

Tips for spotting moose

Photographing moose is often done quickly with a phone, which is also our own preference. Of course, it is better with a real camera with a telephoto lens, especially in poor light conditions at dusk. Because moose are often active at dusk, it is useful to use a tripod and a camera with good ISO performance.

Moose watching takes patience. As with any wildlife viewing, you must be quiet and wait. Sometimes it can take hours to see a moose, but the excitement of the unexpected makes it all worth it.

Our own experience with moose is very diverse. We have already travelled all regions of Sweden and met moose in various places. Sometimes we can watch and enjoy in peace, sometimes 'in a flash', sometimes with fear in our eyes in traffic and here and there in a moose park.
