On their property...
See and experience - Brown bears in their natural environment.
Brown bears are best known for their impressive size and strength, but their behavior and social interactions are just as fascinating . During the summer months, the bears are actively gathering food to prepare for hibernation. They feed mainly on berries, roots, insects and occasionally prey such as fish or small mammals.

Bears up close
Successful bear watching
Fortunately, our first encounter with a brown bear was during a well-organized bear safari and we were able to watch them from a safe so-called bear hide. We returned from this special encounter with a lot of respect and a lot more understanding for the brown bears.

Afraid of the bear?!
Human fear of the brown bear: Unfounded and unnecessary
Many people feel a natural fear of the brown bear, often fueled by stories and myths about these impressive predators. However, this fear is largely unfounded. Brown bears are naturally shy animals that usually avoid humans. Attacks on humans are extremely rare and usually occur when a bear feels threatened or when humans behave irresponsibly in their habitat.
At Holmstock Travel we teach you how to interact with these majestic animals safely and respectfully during our bear watching tours . Our experienced guides will show you how to observe bears without disturbing them, and give you insight into their behavior and living habits. By promoting knowledge and understanding, we help reduce unnecessary fear of brown bears and encourage harmonious coexistence between people and nature.

-
Seasons:
Best time to go bear watching : The summer months, from June to September, are the best time to spot brown bears in Finland. This is the period when the bears are actively looking for food.
Tip: Book on time, we see that the demand for a place in a bear hide is high and it is our intention to offer you the best possible experience. -
Preparation:
Clothing and equipment : Provide warm, comfortable clothing and good, waterproof walking shoes. It may also be helpful to bring binoculars and a camera to observe the bears from a safe distance.
In the bear hide itself it is comfortable to stay and usually not really cold because the activities do not take place in the winter months. -
Patience and tranquility:
Bear watching requires patience and silence. The quieter you are, the more likely you are to see these majestic animals.
You will experience how timid the brown bear is. How silently he can approach and how careful he is in his behavior. Often we are so close that you can hear the bears breathing and crying.
